Fighting Temptation as a Christian Leader

There’s a common misconception that being tempted by certain sins makes us weak or unreliable. But this idea isn’t simply untrue, it’s unbiblical. The only perfect leader, Jesus Christ, was the most tempted of all. What we can learn from His example is not how to avoid temptation, but the more important lesson of how to resist it when it comes.

There’s a reason that Scriptures lay out high standards for leaders: being in a position of authority is not easy, and one of the things that makes it difficult is the ample opportunity for sinning. All leaders are given a degree of influence and power, whether that is over money, over people, over an organization, etc. While leaders have more opportunities for advancement than others, they also tend to have more opportunities to make mistakes.

Since Jesus is the perfect profile of a servant leader, it makes sense to look to His example to see how He fought temptation. Because He not only faced every kind of temptation, but He battled against Satan himself. There is literally no better example for leaders to learn from when it comes to staying strong when temptation comes.

In a recent podcast episode, I dive into this topic in depth. You can listen in full below.
