Weary From Work or Life Generally?
At some point, everyone faces being “weary” at their job or from life’s difficulties generally. We might feel overworked, underappreciated or unprepared for an important task at hand. This feeling of weariness may just be a season as you prepare for a big presentation or execute a major project, or maybe it’s more. Maybe you have a big decision to make, or the pressures of trying to balance family and work are getting you down. Whatever the cause, it’s time to pray.
Having been imprisoned for preaching the gospel, the Apostle Paul knew a thing or two about pressing into the Lord when feeling tired and weary, and you never heard Paul complain about his situation. Paul was always at peace, no matter his circumstances. Even when he was wrongfully imprisoned for preached the Gospel. Christians should heed the instructions he shared in Philippians 4:4-7:
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)
When we bring our weary souls to our Father God through prayer, our circumstances may or may not change, but our hearts certainly will. God will bring us renewed, supernatural peace, strength and perhaps even a new perspective, as well.
There are many verses in the Bible that can direct your prayers and offer comfort to you as you seek help and strength form the Lord about your difficult circumstances at work or in life generally. Prayerfully meditate on these words from your Heavenly Father:
Psalm 23:1-3: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul...” (NIV)
Psalm 90:17: “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands.” (NIV)
Proverbs 16:3: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” (NIV)
Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)
1 Corinthians 15:58: “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” (NIV)
Galatians 6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (NIV)
Philippians 2:12-16: “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.” (NIV)
Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (NIV)
Colossians 3:23-24: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (NIV)
James 1:5: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (NIV)
God sees your weariness, and He cares for you. Christians must let prayer and meditation be their first source of encouragement, not their last resort. When we seek God, we can gain strength, perspective and the supernatural peace of God, no matter our current circumstances. To worry shows that we are not trusting that God has got this. God is always with us! And the Holy Spirit lives in us as Christians! What more do we need?!! Tap into that power!!!
