Celebrating Our Creator

Today is Earth Day, a time we pay special attention to our planet and many discuss ways to steward it and its resources well. For me, this is also a day to thank the One who designed it all. Considering the beauty of the Earth prompts us to offer praise to our Creator who thoughtfully crafted this planet we call home.

The magnificent landscapes and vast oceans reveal both the majesty and power of God and how He took the time to make something so stunning for us. When we pause to celebrate our Creator, we see that God has His hand in all things, even the smallest of details, like the birds in the sky and flowers in the field. Throughout Scripture, verses point us to celebrating God as the Creator and guide us back to Him.

Here are a few Scriptures to consider on this Earth Day.

Isaiah 42:5 NIV

“This is what God the Lord says—the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out,  who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it”

Psalm 96:11-12 NIV

“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.”

Luke 12:27-28 NIV

“Consider how the wildflowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will He clothe you—you of little faith."

Psalm 95: 4-5 NIV

“In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.”

On this Earth Day find joy in knowing who your Creator is and that He made the heavens, the earth, and everything in it, even you!
