When God Moves, You Move
In the process of me continuing to ponder on the seasons of change happening in my life, I’ve come to realize that when God moves, you must also move with Him. Too many times, people have missed an opportunity because they did not listen to God and move when He told them to.
God might have told you to move to a new city or start your own business. You looked at your situation and thought that it wasn’t the right time or you were not capable at that moment. You have kids in school or bills that need to be paid, and the thought of making any drastic change is the last thing on your mind. What you may not think of is that God is moving and you aren’t.
“God is constantly on the move. I cannot stay where I am and follow God at the same time; responding requires movement. ― Margaret Feinberg
When I read these words by author and public speaker Margaret Feinberg they reminded me that to follow God we have to be willing to move. Too often, we give too much power to our circumstances and fail to trust in our almighty God. To reach the next level or get out of the situation you are in, you have to be ready to move. Like when God instructed Moses to tell the Israelites to be ready for God to pass over their homes - they were ready to move.
Exodus 12:11 says “This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover.”
God told the Israelites to be ready because He was coming in the night to make way for them to leave Egypt. Now what would the Israelites look like if they did not have their shoes on, taking their time eating and not ready to leave? They would have missed God’s blessing and been left behind in Egypt to deal with what was left there. lf they remained in Egypt, the Israelites would most likely have faced plagues sent by God, continued as slaves in Egypt, and would have been without their family and friends as they left for the land promised by God.
One thing is for sure, I never want to miss out on an opportunity that God has planned for me! Take a moment to think about what you’ve been praying for and how you’ve been asked by God to move in your life. Ask God to reveal to you where you weren’t ready when He moved. Seek out the Holy Spirit to prepare your heart, mind and body for the next move of God. Stand at the door with your shoes on, prepared and willing for God to move in your life, and trusting in Him.
When God tells you to move. You move. Just like that.
